Designing a digital companion for parents of children with hearing loss.

Together with YipYip I designed the user interface for the Hoor & Kijk (Listen & Watch) mobile app, built for NSDSK (Dutch Foundation for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children). The app supports parents throughout their journey with a deaf or hard-of-hearing child. Offering practical tips, activity ideas and age-relevant information alongside the formal guidance they receive.

The visual concept centers on positivity, trust and personalisation. Research by YipYip showed that these principles directly respond to the emotional weight many families experience. The goal was to make the app feel supportive rather than clinical, reflected in light colours, rounded shapes and a playful character.
